This a nutrient packed granola which you can make your own by combing any nuts of your choice and seeds and spices for a delicious treat to enjoy anytime of day!

When you are cooking your granola, keep your heat low and steady as you want to ‘activate’ the nuts and seeds, not roast them - this will remove the nutrient quality if they burn or overheat.

BEAUTY BENEFITS

NUTS are loaded with antioxidants, essential fats, minerals and gut-healthy fibre which not only assist in improving your internal health, they are also amazing for your complexion. It’s important to look for organic sources that have been tested for mould exposure and pesticide free.

The three major skin loving nuts I have used are pecans, walnuts and brazil nuts.

PECANS - In addition to their freakishly high antioxidant (and therefore age-defying) properties, pecans are an excellent source of vitamin E, vitamin A, zinc, folate, and phosphorous, which support cellular health, collagen production, and a healthy skin barrier.

BRAZIL NUTS - Full of Selenium, this elasticity-enhancing, melanin-inhibiting mineral has plenty of antioxidant and inflammation readings omega fatty acids.

WALNUTS - Full of essential vitamins and antioxidants that protect the skin from environmental damage and an anti-inflammatory super food. Regular consumption will assist in moisture and greater collagen production.

SLIPPERY ELM + GINGER  are amazing for your gut health as they can ease digestive concerns and help heal and create balance, which in turn help your skin glow.

ORGANIC CEREMONIAL GRADE COCOA - Cocoa is full of minerals -especially magnesium which is essential for a lot of bodily functions. Cocoa powder also assists in improved blood flow, increases skin density and hydration.

INGREDIENTS

NUTS + SEEDS

1/4 cup pumpkin Seeds

2 tablespoons flaxseeds

1/4 cup coconut flakes

1/4 cup brazil nuts - roughly chopped

1/4 cup pecans - left whole

1/4 cup - walnuts - roughly chopped

1/4 cup macadamias - roughly chopped

1/4 cup pistachios - left whole

1/2 cup cocoa nibs

POWDER INGREDIENTS

1/2 cup cocoa powder

2 tsp ginger powder

2 tsp maca powder

2 tsp cinnamon

2 tsp Slippery elm powder

LIQUID INGREDIENTS

2 tablespoons melted coconut oil

1/2 cup maple syrup or honey

1/2 tsp celtic sea salt

STEPS FOR YOUR GRANOLA

1. Blend all your powder ingredients together in a bowl.

2. In a seperate bowl combine all the nuts and seeds - besides the coconut flakes

3. Pour the powder ingredient mixture into the bowl with the nuts and seeds and blend evenly.

4. Melt the coconut oil, maple syrup/honey and celtic salt and add to the dry mixture and stir until combined.

5. Bake for 15mins on 150 degrees - Keep it at a low heat to help ‘activate’ the nuts so you keep all the nutrients. Overcooking or burning your nuts will destroy the activated enzymes and minerals.

6. Remove from the oven and sprinkle the coconut flakes on top and bake for a further 15 mins.

7. Let your granola cool down completely before storing as this will stop from any moisture/mould forming.

I love to top mine with coconut yoghurt and berries.

Enjoy anytime of day
